About the event
Are you an Australian born or arrived here very young, and have a heritage language or languages connected to your ancestry? We want to hear from you! Join us for an open-ended and confidential roundtable discussion about the unique challenges and rewards of navigating multiple languages in Australia. This discussion aims to provide a space for people to connect with others who have had similar experiences and learn more about the unique experiences of growing up in a different language environment from your parents. The discussion will focus on language maintenance, strategies and barriers that people might have encountered and how they overcame them. The main aim of this roundtable is to inform our policy and advocacy on the experiences of Australians regarding maintaining their connection to their heritage languages. We hope that by hearing your stories, we can provide a better understanding of the needs and experiences of bilingual and multilingual families in Australia. This roundtable is organised and run by Multilingual Australia and will be held on the 25th of February at 10 am at the NAATI headquarters. The discussion will be limited to 8 participants and is open to anybody interested in sharing their experiences and insights on their language journey. Register now to reserve your spot and be a part of shaping the future of language maintenance and heritage language preservation for TCAs in Australia. Register here: https://www.trybooking.com/CFNVL
