About the event

Join Multilingual Australia for this free insightful conversation with Yoshito, an advocate for multilingualism, accomplished author, and a proud bilingual French-Japanese individual.

Growing up in France, Yoshito faced his own set of challenges navigating two languages and cultures. This personal journey sparked a lifelong dedication to supporting multilingual families, which has culminated in his authorship of resources designed to guide parents in raising multiliterate children.

Yoshito's work includes "The Parents' Guide to Raising Multi-literate Children," packed with over 70 fun activities to teach and practice reading and writing in the home language. His latest work, a personalised bilingual graphic novel for multilingual pre-teens and teens, busts myths around bilingualism and invites readers to explore what it means to be bilingual and bicultural.

In our Q&A session hosted by Multilingual Australia, we'll delve into Yoshito's personal experiences, his work, and his insights on multilingual education. We'll explore the nuances of his journey growing up bilingual, the significance of literacy in connecting with cultural identity, and the process behind creating his innovative, personalised graphic novel.

The conversation will also touch upon his current family language dynamics as he raises his sons in a trilingual French-Korean-English environment while instilling a deep appreciation of their Japanese heritage.

This session is an absolute must for educators, parents, and anyone interested in multilingualism's complexities and beauty. Join us for a fascinating discussion that promises to expand your understanding of multilingual education and child-rearing practices.
